DREAM – Developing Reading Education through Arts Methods

The DREAM Project

Developing Reading Education with Arts Methods

DREAM was launched with an approximately $1 million dollar grant through the United States Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement: Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Grant Program

In this exciting partnership and research with the San Diego County Office of Education and the North County Professional Development Federation, Center ARTES programs brings the arts to 3rd and 4th grade teachers and students in schools with 35% or more free or reduced lunch population.  During the course of the reserach study we  reached approximately 50 teachers and nearly 1000 students per year.

The program’s ongoing goal is to train teachers at all levels to use visual arts and theater activities in-class to improve students’ reading and writing skills.
